Afric'Aventure runs a parallel program with riders on their track and family and friends on another, all discovering every day of this extraodinary journey the differents sites and sounds of Southern Tanzania. In the evenings everyone gets together at magnificient lodges to chat about the adventure of the day, active for the riders and touristic for the 4x4's. SUMMARY OF THE RIDERS TRIP THE EXPLORERS TRIP WILL BE DESCRIBE IN BOLD. Southern Discovery FIRST DAY First day - Motorcyclists 75 km - moderate Morning: departure on motorcycle to Bagamoyo via " Ndege beach " and mangrove swamps. Noon: pick-nick along the way near the ocean Afternoon: arrival at Bagamoyo at end of the day, relax. First day - Explorers Morning: departure in 4x4 vehicles to Bagamoyo with a stop at Kaole ruins Noon: Lunch in Bagamoyo. Afternoon: visit of Bagamoyo: museums, fishing port, sea salt works. Relax on the beach for those who wish to. First night Traveller’s Lodge, ran by a Belgian. Dinner. Nice atmosphere SECOND DAY Second day – Motorcyclists - + 205 km – moderate to difficult A long day to come. Morning: early departure towards Morogoro. Noon: pick-nick near Uluguru Mountains, in the middle of the Masaï steppe. Afternoon: arrival at Morogoro and transfer in 4x4 vehicles to Foxe’s Safari Camp, in the Mikumi. EXPLORERS : Morning: departure to Mikumi National Park. On our way, we will visit of a sisal plantation near Morogoro. Noon: lunch in Morogoro. Afternoon: arrival at Mikumi Park, and "game drive" in the park in the twilight. Second night Foxe’s Safari Camp, luxury tented camp, overlooking the savannah: Out of Africa! THIRD DAY Third day for both Motorcyclists and Explorers Morning: Early morning Game Drive in the Mikumi National Park. Noon: Lunch at the « Foxes Safari Camp » Afternoon: game drive in the Park Third Night We spend a second night at the Foxes Safari Camp FOURTH DAY Fourth day - Motorcyclists - 140 km – moderate Morning: wake-up at dawn for departure to Morogoro where we take back the motorcycles and head southward. Noon: picnic after passing the Uluguru Mountains. Afternoon: fording through several rivers up to Kisaki. Fourth day - Explorers Morning: departure towards the Selous Game Reserve. Noon: picnic on the way. Afternoon: arrival at Kisaki, only a few kilometers far from the Selous Game Reserve. Fourth night Sable Mountain Lodge, a small stone lodge, is situated on the slopes of hills overlooking a forest, and an English, David, runs it. FIFTH DAY Fifth day – for both Bikers and Explorers Morning: Full day game drive in the Selous Game Reserve to discover hidden recesses where practically no tourist has been before. Noon: picnic along the Mgeta River. Afternoon: game drive in the Selous after a good siesta under the acacias. Fifth night Over night at Sable Mountain Lodge with a « Night Safari », looking after nocturnal wildlife. SIXTH DAY Sixth day - Motorcyclists- 110 km - technical Morning: a big day as motorcyclists and motorcycles are embarked on our private train to cross the Selous. The last but not the least day of the trip: The “train safari” is really unusual and so great! Sixth day - Explorers Morning: accompanying the motorcyclists in our private train to cross the north part of the Selous and our return to Dar es Salaam The train is ours remember so; we can slow down and stop for the animals we see. Transfer to Dar-Es-Salaam, shopping and a little time to pack before closing the door on your Afric'Aventure. Lodging in a magnificent Boeing 767 (or equivalent...). ATTENTION !!! For people interested to continue this trip, they can prolong for 2 days the safari Sixth night Selous Mbega Camp, ran by a German, Sacha, is along the Rufiji River, in the middle of the forest, near West Gate of the Selous. SEVENTH DAY Seventh day - Motorcyclists - 210 km - easy to moderate Morning: a long day for motorcyclists. Northwest return towards Ras Kutani, joining first the Indian Ocean. Noon: Picnic along the way. Afternoon: along the Indian Ocean, heading northward. Morning: After a good breakfast, we leave Mbega Camp, following first the Selous boundary, which will allow us to see more animals: giraffes, antelopes… Noon:Picnic Afternoon: arrival at Ras Kutani, along the lagoon and the Indian Ocean. Seventh night Comfort in a magnificent lodge of the Indian Ocean : Ras Kutani. Seafood buffet or Swahili cuisine. EIGHTH DAY Eighth day – for both Motorcyclists and Explorers No more motorcycle Morning: it is the end of the stay for those who have chosen the 8 days option. Departure at dawn to the Dar es Salaam International Airport. For the others, it’s time for half a day relaxes: snorkeling, riding on the beach (optional), deep sea fishing (optional), waling in the forest or farniente. Noon: lunch on the terrace near the ocean. Afternoon: transfer to Zanzibar, Spices Island. Lodging in a magnificent Boeing 767 (or equivalent...). We have also a 11 days tour !!! |
